The Long Wait on Roxas Street

Roxas St. Amigo Subd Piapi, Dumaguete City

The pavement on Roxas Street remains cracked and dry,

Two months have vanished beneath a cloudless sky.

From March to May, the dust begins to settle deep,

While memories of the rain are secrets that we keep.

At work, the sadness lingers like a heavy weight,

Deadlines and duties form a weary, endless state.

The family kitchen holds a quiet, somber tone,

As we face the dry season, feeling quite alone.

Yet in this peaceful environment, a stillness starts to grow,

Despite the empty clouds and the river’s Eben flow.

The spirit of the Gandang Roxaseña remains so bright,

A flicker of hope through the long and thirsty night
