The Boat that Waited

I am incredibly excited to announce that Negros writer Gemma Minda Laxina Iso and her daughter, Jara Criztaj I. Carballo-Manalo, on a brand-new project: a historical novelette set during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

This project is deeply close to her heart. Growing up in Bais City, she always felt a profound connection to our local history and landscapes. Because of that, most of the scenes will be set right here in Bais and our beautiful neighboring towns. We are currently in the early stages—tossing around ideas, breathing life into characters, and piecing together a moving love story shaped by a chapter of history that forever altered so many lives.

With a bit of luck, a lot of hard work, and a shared passion for regional storytelling, we hope to create a memorable piece of literature that fellow Baisanons will enjoy and be proud to call their own.

Stay tuned as we bring The Boat That Waited to life! 📖⚓️🇵🇭
